Improving Your Gig

Well, it’s a new month and for me festival season is just round the corner. In the world of global touring this means Australia.
I can’t think of a better place to start work for the year than somewhere sunny! Having said that I have witnessed torrential rain, flooding and sleet while over there, so much like our summers then…
Looking forward to a new year of touring, I am always on the look out for ways to improve my gig. This year I have been on a few training courses and doing lots of studying. I was lucky enough to be a guest of Wigwam on a few days training at d&b’s UK centre in Nailsworth, near Stroud.
An excellent few days with fellow professionals talking about systems, and in particular d&b’s Array Calc and network systems. I must admit I drift off at the mention of network protocols, but this was actually a fascinating few days. We all walked away knowing loads more, not just about d&b, but about system design in general.
As a sound engineer, you are never too old to learn and you never know as much as you think!
