Recording Drums with Marcel van Limbeek

Filmed in the Neve Studio at SSR London, Marcel shares his brilliant multi-microphone drum recording technique, all based on good mic positioning and getting the phase relationships right. By using more than one mic in the same position, the fact that they are perfectly in phase with each other means the different tracks can be mixed to achieve a certain amount of EQ before reaching for the EQ knob. He also demonstrates phase aligning the whole kit.
Recommendation:
This masterclass is best listened to on a good pair of headphones or quality studio monitors
