Merlijn van Veen
Merlijn was born on April 5th 1978. After High School he studied studio recording and jazz piano at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague.
After his studies, he worked for 4 years at the Dutch Broadcasting Company, later called Dutchview, where he was the sound engineer for television reality shows such as "Big Brother" and "The Bus".
He worked with Harlekijn Holland for most of a decade, and was responsible for all live concert sound for this company owned by renowned European singer, Herman van Veen.
He mixes more than 150 performances a year, both indoor and outdoor, in the Netherlands and further afield. He has had the privilege of working with national and international artists in prominent and acoustically challenging venues.
He has gradually developed a talent for musically and naturally amplifying the human voice and classical instruments such as violin, grand piano and Spanish guitar.
Over the course of his career, Merlijn fell in love with system technology. Thanks to extensive self-education and some high and seminars, Merlijn now belongs to a select group of Dutchmen with a fundamental understanding of the physics behind sound.
I gratitude for the willingness of others to share knowledge and experience, he has started his own education programme. Merlijn is a full member of the AES and a moderator of the "test & measurement" board of the ProSoundWeb LAB forums.
